Virus removal filters use nanofiltration membranes to ensure >4 log reduction values (LRV) for parvoviruses and other small viruses. They are validated for removal of both enveloped and non-enveloped viruses during monoclonal antibody purification or plasma fractionation. Filters such as 20 nm or 15 nm pore size formats operate under low pressure and are designed for single-use or reusable systems. These filters meet regulatory requirements from FDA, EMA, and ICH Q5A for viral safety. With high throughput and low protein binding, virus filters are indispensable for critical biologic and vaccine production under GMP.
